FIRST VOWS IN MANILA

FIRST VOWS IN MANILA

This past May 18,  in spite of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, a Vietnamese Sister, To Van, and three Timorese Sisters, Marta, Alu and Fely made their first vows in the Chapel of the Novitiate of Tandang Sora in Manila. With only the community physically present, and more than 1,500 persons participating virtually through Facebook Live. THis celebration is a symbol of Hope. Four young women who, like Mary, have said Yes to the Lord in the midst of many uncertainties. They want to follow Jesus radically, allowing Him to lead them. If sometimes we think that our life is totally in our hands, this pandemic situation and the insecurity that it generates in us shows clearly that only leaving all in the hands of God can we walk with peace and joy in adversity. To Van, Alu, Fely and Marta have responded to the invitation to get into this boat convinced, as was St. Raphaela, that life is worthwhile if we make of it “a continuous act of love.”
