We celebrated Migrants Day at Snehadhara on 21st September 2025, along with rickshaw-pullers and their families. It was a heartfelt gathering where we shared their journeys, listened to their hopes, and honoured the resilience of those who leave their homes in search of better lives.
The event was a meaningful moment to recognise their strength and provide a platform to share their stories. Nearly a hundred members participated in the program.
The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by invited guests and rickshaw-puller members. Mr. Praful, one of the speakers, shared reflections on their journey — highlighting their aspirations and the reasons that led them to migrate in search of work to support their families.
Our hostel students presented cultural performances to entertain and honour the guests and all participants. This occasion brought together individuals from various parts of Rourkela where we have been working with migrants. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, listen, and stand in solidarity with them.

The program concluded with a meal shared with all the attendees. Everyone left with smiles, making it a day to remember.
Apart from this, we also do regular family visits, training programs, input sessions, health camps, and other support activities. The migrants we work with have come from various states within India in search of work, striving to support their families. Most of them take up work as rickshaw-pullers — a job that demands immense physical effort and perseverance. We deeply value and respect their hard work and resilience.
